FD Cable - How to Attach to Bolt?

2 Attachment(s)
Hi, Can someone please tell me which way to route the end of cable to the front derailleur bolt? Does it go under the clamp (not sure what that part is called) or between the bolt and the clamp? Thanks so much!

Under the clamp. Buy a new cable 1st - I can see that threads are winding off of the cable, better to start fresh for under $5.

Thanks...believe it or not, I just got the bike the other day and it came assembled with the cable between the bolt and the clamp. I had to adjust the tension and when re-attaching the cable I wasn't sure if the shop set it up correctly. I guess they didn't.

I like to wrap my FD cable 180° around the bolt for a neater look.

It's easiest before the cable's trimmed to length, but if it's already cut to size you can tension it with longnose pliers.

cable attachment points are incredibly counter intuitive and they don't look like they would hold, do they? amazing that they work so well. if I were a designer mine would be obvious how to attach the cable (forgive my English I didn't sleep last night and I'm fading fast)

I generally find cable attachment pretty self-evident, myself
