brake efficiency problem
I have front disc brake on my mtb with a no name BB5 copy.
I have great slowing down power on the disc system but theres no real "hard stop" hability to be had from this (sometimes usefull in the local fire/camp trails we have (moslty when i encouter a fox) I sould also say that under 10 km/h I can stop and nearly lock the front wheel, over that, good deceleration power but just not what i would hope for. Like i said its a BB5 copy running on avid speed dial ultimate levers, should i change the pads and cable wire/jacket to get a bit more stopping power? BTW, I wont get BB7 as they only sell them in kit over here for like 150$ (1 caliper/1 lever + cable) and i am unable to order online! thanks |
You get what you pay for.
A Chinese rip-off of a BB5 isn't going to work great. Go for the real thing, or better yet, buy a full hydraulic. Old-style Hayes HFX Mag brakes work awesome and can be had for cheap now. |
chinese knock off lol not really, at least it is made in germany ;)
I dont want hydro because i run a rear rim brake and i want to keep both brake levers the same |
