Cervelo dual noise

I bought a Cervelo Dual 2005 model new in box in December. I have about 1K miles on it. About a month ago I started noticing a noise when pedaling. It is sort of a creaking irritating sound. The sound does not exist while standing on the pedals and is more subtle when in the aero position. The sound is loudest when I am in a more upright position.

I did some things to help narrow down the problem. I removed the front der to make sure that it wasn't contacting the chain. I then removed the chain altogether. I still get this sound with the chain and front der removed.

I also removed the crank and bottom bracket. I did find some pretty significant slivers of aluminum on the BB shell when I removed it. The BB feels smooth if I rotate the shaft with it removed. I cleaned everything up and packed grease in it and reassembled and still have the annoying sound.

I really don't need to spend the cash to take it the LBS but need my bike fixed because I have races coming up.

Thanks for any help
Steve

Thanks 10 wheels. I noticed that if I pulled down on the back of the saddle I got a creaking sound. I pulled the seatpost, greased it, and reinstalled it....Problem resolved.

It sure did sound like it was coming from the crank area.

Thanks again,
Steve
