any difference between xenon and veloce?
i have some xenon ergo shifters 09, and see some 05 veloce for $70. Is it worth it to get the veloce? whats the differences between these two shifters? Does the veloce have better quality parts for shifting than the xenon?

There is not such thing as '09 Xenon. The last year for Xenon and Mirage was '08. Xenon shifters from '07-'08 have the limited function escape mechanism, while the '05 Veloce has the same mechanism found in the higher levels of that year.
$70 may sound cheap, but if the shifters are used and don't include cables, it's too much. You can get brand new Veloce 10 shifters with cables for only about $120 from Ribble. The '09+ models are entirely different than anything before, with a new brake hood shape and new mechanism. Those shifters shoould not be used with Centaur or lower level RDs fron '07-'08. |
Ahh yes you're right i have a 08 xenon, and thank you for the information about the Veloce shifters. I forgot to mention its $70 for a pair i believe, and the cheapest i can find for some new veloce group is around 160 with shipping. Is it still worth it in your opinion?
And my xenon levers are currently a 10spd matched up with my 9spd tiagra rear derailleur and working fine currently, do the new generations of campys have a different amount of cable pull? And what would the campy equivalent of the veloce be in the shimano line? |
Here's a link to bargain Veloce shifters.
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/roa...SS931000000000 All Campy 10 shifters pull the same amount of cable. I'd compare Veloce to 105. |
