New Road Bike Derailleur Problem
I have a new road bike (about 100 miles on it) with Shimano 105 front and rear derailleurs. I get a repetetive clinking sound from the drive train when i'm in my middle chainring and the top 4 cogs (the sound gets progressively worse the higher i go) and when i'm in my highest chainring and top 1 or 2 cogs. Haven't played around w/ my lower chainring. My front derailleur is set okay, it's centered on top of each chainring and the chain doesn't come anywhere near rubbing the derailleur. What could be causing this? Is this something that I can tinker w/ on my own, or should I bring it to the LBS? I'm a hands-on kinda guy and would rather do it myself (although it's free at the LBS). Thanks for any helpful hints.

It's just normal break-in. The cables have probably stretched. You can try making minor adjustments with the barrel adjuster on the rear derailleur. After a month, take it back to the shop for the free break-in tune-up and make sure they re-tension the wheels. Then get a book on bicycle mechanics so you can keep it in tune on your own.
