Stripped Campy BB help

Rebuilding an 8 speed Campy set up. The splines on the BB have been stripped out on the right side so the BB tool won't work. (The spindle & cassette assembly came out fine). Any tricks for getting the remaining part of the BB out?

If you are just rebuilding the bb, you can leave the right side "cup" in place. Otherwise, you may have to use the Sheldon Brown BB cup removal tool. I don't have time to find the link, but I'm sure a fellow BF'er will post it for you.

as helpful as this advice is... I think the OP has a cartridge style BB.

are you replacing the BB? why do you need to remove it? since you already have the BB out there should not be alot of force holding it in place. since you are not going to reuse it try tapping it out with a punch and small hammer. I would think it should unscrew easily

I assumed he had a cartridge BB. I've gotten those out with just the right size washer. If not, tapping it out should do well.

thanks for the help - for clarification - It is/was a cartridge bottom bracket. The left side came out fine. The right side cup was stripped (just the splines on the inside where the BB tool would fit) and on very tight. I modified the Sheldon Brown idea by adding a few more washers to make a good fit. A little liquid wrench and it unscrewed just fine.

Thanks again for the help.
