My 3 speed is a 1 speed.
Hello. I just peurchased a 3 wheelled Huffy Escape (the large rear basket is a feature that I find useful). It was used and it has onlytwo sprockets (one for the pedals and the rear right wheel) there is a pulley on the frame near the larger sprocet where the pedals are. It is a chore to pedal up steep inclines. How would I either get parts for this bike to make it a 3 speed or modify it to have more gears? any help in this regard would be appreciated!

I just went back and re read your post, and from the way you describe it, I'm not sure your trike has a mid drive, so this might not be an option.
Can you post some pictures showing detailed closeups of the drive train?

What kind of rear hub do you have? I suspect Sturmey-Archer if it is the original equipment. These tend to be extremely durable hubs and most problems are a result of lubrication failure. If there's an oil cap on the hub, squirt some light machine oil (avoid vegetable based oils) in to the hub and ride it around to loosen things up.
Is there a shift cable coming out of the hub, over the pulley you described and attached to a shift lever? If so, does the shift lever move? Does the cable move? The cable may be rusted solid in its housing. If so it will need to be replaced.

Take the trike to a Local Bike Shop. They can fix you up.
