Small crack in velocity rim
 

is this a completely useless rim? theres a SMALLL crack where the rim forges together.

can i fix this in anyway? or trash

Which Velocity rim? Razor... Fusion etc...! Generally these are the seams that join the rim ends together and may be normal. As usual, a picture would tell us more!

This time that comment is very correct. A crack along the sidewall or at a spoke hole trashes the rim. A "crack" where the rim seam is located is nothing.

can i take this to someone to get that crack filled? will the wheel be forever off balance?



hmm and is it alright if i used 2 layers of masking tape as a replacement for rim tape?

rim is fine, and no on the masking tape

masking tape won't hold.
plumber's strap tape should hold.
but even cheap rim tape doesn't cost much. We're talking about less than $3 for rim tape from the LBS.

that crack is fine, it's normal for the rim to have that, especially on lower quality rims like velocity.

SWEEEET TIME TO APPLY NEW RIM TO FRONT WHEEL!
