bottom bracket adapter on Cannondale Six rotating during BB installation
Replacing Dura-ace bottom bracket on my Six. I noticed that both sides (L & R) of the external bearings started to move when I removed the old BB. I seems like the adapter now rotates (lock-tite must have come loose). It is still in there pretty tight. When I installed the new external bearings, I was able to get things tight, but if enough torque is applied, the adaptor rotates. I have the english thread (1.37 x 24, 68mm). So I'm wondering if the bearings will come loose now. Will I have to take the bike in to a shop and have them re-press in the adaptor with new lock-tite (maybe I just answered my own question)? Or will things probably stay tight? I guess I'll find out if I just ride it for a while.

You need to remove the adpater, clean and reinstall with loctite (690?) - the green loctite. And you *need* to let it set before you attempt to put in your external BB. Let's also hope that the frame wasn't damaged when the adpater was pressed in and that it wasn't removed and reinstallted too many times.
Which BB30 adapter do you have? The FSA one? |

Or were certain frames just made with a steel insert to accomodate the usual english threaded bb? I have a Dura ace crankset with Dura ace bb.
