Insert from 3T funda on a different fork
 

The expander plug on my carbon fork slips up whenever I go to preload the bearings on the headset no matter how tight I make the expander/compression plug. The whole bike is less than 600 miles old and the plug feels new and the teeth are still sharp. I know I could go through the effort of trying a few more expander plugs and seeing if they hold better, but I like the sound of the aluminum insert and star nut that they give with the 3t Funda fork. So my question is, has anyone used the 3t Funda insert kit on any fork other than the 3t one? Is the ID of the 3t Funda fork a weird size or will it match most other forks with the same OD? I have a Felt AR5 (incase someone has gone through the exact thing or at least used the same fork) and would like to preload the headset a lot more than I currently can and like the sound of the reinforcement of the aluminum insert. Thanks for any help.
