front derailleur won't shift down - sram rival
(i wish i could change the title -... )I changed my bar height and now my front derailleur is giving me fits.
It will drop to the lower ring but it is finicky. the shifter clicks, but almost takes a second throw to get the FD to lower the chain. it goes from bottom to top without fuss. Is this a limit screw issue? or the cable maybe too loose? How can I tell? thanks all! Id like to point out that I used the words fits, finicky, and fuss in the same post. |
I would first look to see if the cable is binding. Loose cable wouldn't cause this problem but too tight or limit set wrong could. As it was fine before moving handlebars, I doubt it would be the limit but you never know till you check.

sounds like the housing got knocked out of place when moving the bars. grab the exposed cable on the down tube and give it a tug to tighten up any slack. either hold the derailer body or pedal a little bit so you dont bend the cage

Did you loosen the cable before you raised the bars and then adjust it afterwards?
|
no - i did not. should I have? Ive lowered bars before and Ive never had this issue.
the cable is not binding any where That I can see. Everything looks good. The only thing that I see that is different than most of my bikes it the length of the front derailleur housing from the bars. Pretty long. |
