Getting Campy Chrous QS10 spd shift cable replacement

I'm doing an emergency replacement of my front shifter cable. I've got a good cable cutter, but I can't seem to get the cable past what I assume is the cut end of the housing. This is a new, well-built machine so little reason to assume a hacked-up cable end. Any suggestions?

Well, I had a brand new cable that seemed to have a fuzed, pointed end. This one threaded relatively easily. I'll need to figure this out for future reference.
