Suntour Accushift 3040 Rear Derailleur

Anyone know the actuation I have with this one. Have heard its similiar to shimano?? I would like to upgrade my shifters but don't know the above answer. Would really like the trigger style shifters but my front shifter is friction and my rear is indexed. Any idea if I switch to indexed shifters in the front as well would they play nice with the front derailleur? Thanks for the info!!
