jtek shiftmate and derailleur adjustment
I have a jtek shiftmate with Campy 10 speed Record brifters with Shimano DuraAce 9 speed derailleur and cassette. It was all working fine until recently. Now the chain skips when I am on the small chainring in front and try to shift to the smaller 2 or 3 cogs on the cassette. Turning the adjusting barrel on the derailleur seems to make no difference in the tightness of the cable or the shifting. Any ideas on what is the problem and how to fix it? Thanks.

You might have to reposition the pulley. IIRC the flat spot needs to be in the 1-2 o'clock position. Make sure that your cable crosses over correctly.
I hope that makes sense? On another note, why not forgo the jtek and fasten the cable via the hubub method. It works the same as the jtek for the ergo 10/Shimano 9 rear/cass combination. http://www.hubbubcustom.com/articles_ergopower.html |

either the chain has worn out, or the cable has stretched out.

bluenote157's first sugestion is good. Check that the shift cable is wrapped properly over the pulleys and that the cross-over notch is in the correct orientation.
There is no better method than the Shiftmate for making otherwise incompatible components work perfectly together. I ran a Campy 10-speed Ergo/Shimano 9-speed cassette and rd combination for thousands of miles using the appropriate Shiftmate and it shifted as well as a matched set of components. |
