finishing cap?

2 Attachment(s)
sorry for this trivial question.
but I am trying to figure out what bit is missing from the unfinished stem top. I got it like this and while it is not structural or mechanically important (I don't think) it irritates me to look down at this gaping hole when I ride.

does it just need a friction fit plastic cap? the diam. measures 1".
anyone seen a RUDD (I think) stem, or know where I might find the cap? (or is this a standard bit.)

adapter

looks like you have some kind of cobbled together threadless stem adapter.

Hmmm, that's a better looking one.
having searched around a bit I think I just need a standard nylon cap.
So, never mind. thanks for even looking.

That is one hell of a sketchy-looking set-up. On a Fuso too. Wow.
I'm not sure what's going on there, but I would strongly recommend letting an experienced mechanic look at it. You don't want to compromise with a stem/fork set-up. Failure there can put you in a casket.

good suggestion.
I'll get on it next week.
though first I will dismantle it (AGAIN) and show you what's really under here. then you can tell me again if this is crap or not.
I guess I just think that I never really ride hard enough to put myself at much risk. and that is probably a bad assumption.
