Problems with Tubes
Earlier this year, I bought my 1st road bike. Its a Royce Union from the 70s with all, of its original components. While everything functions well, I have been having issues with the tires/inner tubes. On a ride a few weeks back, both busted. Today, after buying new tubes, the back tube busted again. What is wrong here? Am I pumping them with too much air? Should I invest in new tires and tubes?
Thanks! |
Whats causing the flats? Do a search here for different causes, its been covered (Rim side or tire side hole? Blowout or puncture? etc. etc.)

We need more than "busted." Did they develop a leak or blow out with a bang or pop? If they blew out the problem is one of the below:
1. Poor installation or tube not properly within tire from other reason (such as riding when flat). 2. Tire hole or defect (broken or weak bead). 3. Overinflation (generally would have to be quite high if the above two factors are not present. If a leak you need to describe exactly what the hole looks like and whether it's next to the road, sidewall or rim, and look for any possible causes near where the hole is.. |
