vibration
What would cause a vibration in the rear hub of a single speed beach cruiser? You can feel it even
when walking the bike. The vibration seems to propagate to the handlebars when riding.

Twenty to one your chain is too tight. Chainrings and sprockets aren't perfectly concentric, and it's easy to over-tension the chain if you set the wheel while in a low spot.
Turn your pedals while feeling tension in the middle of either section. At the tightest point ease the rear wheel forward so there's a minimum of 1/16" of free play up and down across the chain. Or there should be a few degrees of free play in the crank with the rear wheel locked.

Assuming it's a single-speed, not a fixed gear, and you feel the vibration when walking the bike when the chain isn't moving, a tight chain may not be the cause.
Check both tires to be sure there isn't a bulge or something caught in the tread. If the tires are good, spin both wheels to see if there is damage or a flat spot in a rim from an impact. Finally, remove the wheels and spin them to see if the hubs are bad or an axle is bent.
