Chain repair. How? Advise need
 

Hi.
I need advise to repair my chain.
Before 500 km I pit a new HG70 chain on the bike.
I broke the chain to take off some steps that the pin left in in one side.
Push it back but went more a little bit so the turning was not perfect. A little bit pushed back and was Ok.
From the side I pushed back came out the pin. (Probably what I set there.)
What to do?
1. Push it back again.
2. put a new pin what came with the chain.
3. change the step with 2 pins that can put together?
Left any more possibility else.

Shimano's chains must be assemble with their specific replacement pins or a suitable master link whenever you shorten or repair it. You must NOT push out and reuse a previously installed pin.

In hat case no 1 fall out. But in this case can I use the pin that was in the box of the new chain for repair or buy a quick release chain link?

If it's for the new chain, yes. That's what it's for.

If I understood well your answer the pin can use in a new chain only and can not repair the chain after 450km of use with the supported chain.
I look for a solution and find a KMC m
"MissingLink" for 7 and 8 speed compatible with Shimano chain. That probably I can open and close more time when I need.

Losi, if it says it is compatible with Shimano then that would be a nice option if you need to remove the chain often. For the mean time go ahead and use the pin that came with the chain. It should be a longer pin with a pointed end. Once you press in the pin pointed end first and the pin is in all the way you grab the pointed end with pliers and snap it off. From there use the chain tool to very lightly open the link as described in the chain tool instructions so it is free to pivot.

I thought what you write about and write my answer why I decided buy the "MissingChain" Monday to try it first. Before my decision thought the same as you advised that it is possible. In the instruction they say if you need to open the chain do not open at place where you set it together. This is logic that the pin will not keep well. My case the pin opened what is similar case and the pin will not keep so well there. The part cost less than 4 US dollar and easy to put it . If it is not fit easily can try the pin.
I make trips about 60-100km and like minimize any mechanical risk.

Hi All,
The Chain repaired by a KMC missing link.
It is a very good solution and honor to the manufacture. As I see not opening, can open easily and close when I like, see where the chain starts end ends, easy to set.
Very advised.
If it was a new chain I was use the supported pin.

The replacement pin is NOT just for a new chain. You can use it any time in the chain's life.

When I talked about a "new chain", I was trying to determine which chain the pin came with. You didn't say.

I not really understood what you meant that it is for a new chain.
I was sorry when I set the new chain on the way I did it. Moved out the pin from the chain but left it inside. After put together pushed back. Probably that pin came out.
It was my fault that came out.
After this bad experiment thought put together with the supported pin. But tried this new experiment.
I just thought it will be not so strong use the same whole for an other pin.
Next week I can start longer trips with this bike.
