Integrated Headset Sizing

Apologies if this has already answered, I've been looking around but can't find the info, maybe because it's a non-question...

Is there any difference between a 41.8mm headset and a 42mm headset campy style? Park Tools discusses 41.8mm headsets for campag hiddensets. I've seen the record advertised as both 41.8mm and 42? Does this mean that any 42mm integrated headset will work when the bike says 41.8mm?
Lastly, as sad as this sounds, are there any decent silver ones available?

Thanks.

All hiddensets are 45/45. If that's what your frame takes it'll work - and really the only part of such a headset is silver is the top bearing cap. Higher end models are CF, crappier ones are plastic. All black.

Aren't the 45/45 numbers the angles of the bearing seats, not the diameter?

Yes, but Campy uses the 45/45 angles and most others use 36/45 or 36/36 , with the 36 being the angle of the fork crown race on the 36/45. I suspect some people are too lazy to write 41.8mm and make it 42mm, particularly if the term hiddenset is used. From the info at Park, there is a 42mm Microtech headset, that's entirely different and not compatible.

Okay, thanks for the replies. I was just curious because with components, everybody always seems to be accurate to the nearest decimal place. With these integrated headsets, it appears that retailers online are rounding up .2mm which seems odd. I just thought that an extra .2mm will mean that it potentially wouldn't fit.

A lot of the time Metric numbers are used to describe a Fractional inch size.
