1 1/8" threaded headset

If I use a 1 1/8" threaded headset on my road bike, would that make it possible to use a 1" quill stem? I haven't seen any other size quill stems so I'm guessing so, but I want to be sure. Thanks guys

no, a 11/8" threaded HS requires a 11/8" steerer and a 11/8" quill stem(which actually measures 1" or25.4mm in diameter at the quill).. a 1" quill for a 1" HS/ steerer actually measures 22.2mm....Confusing, yes,but that's the convention..........Are you sure your bike headtube/steerer are meant for 11/8" HS? I'm not sure there are any 11/8" threaded road setups, although there are, or use to be plenty of 11/8" mtb quill setups.

Yep it's 1 1/8, I was hoping I could use the standard road bike quill stem. According to what you're saying, that's not possible.

No, i wouldn't do that. As Sydney said, it's unlikely to be a 1"1/8 threaded road fork, however, if it is, I'd try to get a steerer extender, then attach an a-head stem to it, but I'm not sure extenders are available for inch & 1/8 steerers.

It's also called a quill adapter. That's probably the way I would go with a 11/8" threaded road setup.Bigger selection of stems. There are 11/8" ones listed in the QBP. Check nashbar or performance.
