Question about a Merlin extralight

Recently I purchased a 53cm Merlin Extralight that, according to the serial number was built in 1998. It has straight chain and seat stays. Besides that, how does it differs from a current Extralight model?

Maybe Merlin themselves? Why not contact ABG and talk to their tech people?
