Mavic help-anodized rims?

I have seen some red mavic open pro rims anodized red on Ebay...Apparently mavic doesn't make these anymore. Is that because anodized rims have cracking problems? Is that why mavic uses ceramic now instead?

I wouldn't mind building up a pair of red rims.

I like velocy rims and you can get them in red or several other colors

I have been abusing my (red) Heliums for about 15k miles now. The only problems I have had were a broken pawl at about 5k mi and a recent (rear) bearing failure.

I hit something so hard last summer that I expected my wheel to blow apart or fork to break and, while it did knock the rim slightly out of true, I am seriously impressed that it even held together. I would say that my rear hub is probably less than ideal, but the rims seem very strong.

Ps I'm 220#

Which ones should I use for a tough pair of training rims......aero or areohead? Were they expensive? I haven't checked prices yet?

I'll have to look into those...sounds tough enough!!!. Mavic makes them right, but only as a complete wheelset?

Hi
Open Pros make great wheels but not if you are over 75KG. Use CXP33's if you are. Open pros need a good wheelbuilder, so make sure you use one. The anodising makes the rim stiffer if anything as it hardens the outed surface of the aluminium. CD ones are strongest. Ceramic coated rims cost a fortune and are fine until you chip a bit of the ceramic off by a stone hitting it etc. Then the rim acts like a cheese grater and eats brake blocks!!
