Octalink Compatible?

I was wondering if my Dura-Ace crank is Octalink compatible? What was the first year Octalink came out? The bike is a 1997 8-speed Trek.

Thanks,
Mick

Remove the bolt from the crank. Look in the hole. If it is square, NO. If it is circular with eight splines, YES

Anything that's original 8 speed isn't.

True, but for some the ocular test works best.
