Super caked-on grime

I have an 1985 Peugot Super Sprint. The grime on the chain and freewheel is unreal. I've tried WD-40 and scrubing to no avail. Any suggestions?

You might try one of the citrus cleaners. I use one called Bio-T on mine. It's an industrial cleaner. Pedro's makes one called Orange-Peelz. I've even seen some at Wal-Mart. A lot of people have also used Simple-Green. Good Luck! :)

I've found that palmolive dish soap will cut most grease. it's cheap, too! just remember: you're not doing the dishes. don't be afraid to use alot of it.

You might try soaking the parts overnight in one of the aformentioned products, then giving them a good scrub.

The sure deal is to get some spray-on engine cleaner from the automotive store.

Spray it on, rinse it off. It will take off most of the worst grime in a single application.

The cost is less than two bucks for a big spray-can.
