Due to my wheel failing (making a weird spoke noise when I pedal hard) after I accidentally rode on it while it was flat (I'm *heavy*) I had to use a wheel that I was GOING to have trued by the LBS mechanic. I looked in the barnetts manual and went to it. It had a few lateral errors and a really huge radial error (a dip about 8 spokes long.) I managed to get it rideable. It still has an error that's not too bad. I figure on taking it to the LBS for fine-tuning, and then keep it true on my own.

It is largely due to this forum that I would even attempt this, but it turned out good for this first-timer.

Good for you!! I want to learn how to do that also.

Did you you a truing stand or just your bike's forks.

Wheelbuiding is an artform, but something well worth learning about.

I used an allen wrench as a needle to point at the rim and used the bikes frame.
