Shorter headset??

I have a frame/fork here (threaded), and upon trying to put it together I can get the first part of the top of the headset on and there is no thread left for the other top part. (Sorry for the technical speak.) Does anyone know of a way I can make this work? I'm trying to sell the frame; it's an older steel track frame in real nice shape but this headset problem is setting me back..

You'll need a new fork with a longer steerer tube.

Or a headset with a shorter stack height. Shimano has a pretty short stack while a stronglight is pretty tall.

They are both pretty tall, the current Shimanos beining shorter at 37.7mm. A Tange-Seiki MA-60 is 31.2 and a Passage is 30.0

I think my Ritchey is pretty short as they go though I don't recall the exact measurments. It was nice and cheap too.

That's good if you have a source of old ones. Current lx is 37.5

Any LBS should have a QBP catalogue or something similar. Think harricyclery has an online one,and could soruce anything in it.
