whistling front wheel

well i was chasing a whistling sound that just came into my front wheel,i checked bearings etc, brakes rubbing etc and found that my tubes are the newer type presta with threadless stem and the tyre pressure had dropped and allowed the wind to penetrate the valve opening and it started to whistle!....one good thing with all this is as soon as my tyre pressure drops i will have an alarm to pump them up!

Are you saying that you are using presta valve tubes in rims with holes drilled for schraeder valves? If you are, you are inviting problems with the tube eventually pushing its way out of the larger hole until it bursts. There is a way to avoid this problem by using an adaptor or a properly sized flat washer. Perhaps you are already doing this.

no the rims are designed for presta,i think the tyre pressure drop was allowing air in!
