will this derailleur work?
 
i have a 10 speed road bike(5 speed cluster in the rear). it has friction down tube shifters. will this work?

Yes. The only slight hitch will be the chain width. If you have an older "5-speed" chain, it might be too wide to fit through that derailleur's cage. Newer "5-speed" chains are interchangeable with 7- and 8-speed chains and thus will not be a problem.

i just bought a new chain from the LBS today. so i guess i'm ok. thanks
