Threaded fork question - length vs headtube

I have a 55 cm soma rush w/a 130mm headtube. Theres currently a soma straight blade threaded fork that is 170mm threaded, I was wondering if that would work with my frame.

Here is the ad: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/2023762998.html
The fork: http://store.somafab.com/sostbltrfo.html (1" 170mm threaded)
The frame: http://store.somafab.com/sorutrfr.html (55cm)

Thanks guys. If it doesn't work, no big deal, I wasn't exactly expecting to go threaded anyway.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. You would have 40mm of available space. A Shimano 105 threaded 1" headset has the stack height of 37.5mm http://www.modernbike.com/itemgroup....4&SSAID=418273 so with 1 or 2 spacers you should be OK.

Anyone else want to chime in to confirm this?

Yes, provided you use a headset with a stack height of 40mm or less. The stack height is given in headset specs. and there's a decent selection of both quality and budget headsets with heights of 40mm or less.

is it really 170mm threaded portion?
or 170mm steering column with 50mm threaded portion.

looks fine to me. you will need spacers so buy a spacer kit.

sounds like a good plan to me.

let me know how you like the quality of the frame and fork. I am seriously considering a Buena Vista with that straight fork and may use it on another project too.

thanks guys! i will be grabbing this in a week or so when funds are sufficient enough.

as for bianchigirll;
the soma's one of the best frames ive had. welds are definitely top notch for the price (id say a 9/10) paint is pretty great, the white has a nice sparkle and there is a good primer used underneath as there is no raw metal showing from the dropout (8/10). tange tubing is light, responsive, and for the most part what i love about steel.

the velospace pics are not how my bikes look now by a few months, if you want updated ones then feel free to ask.

ill let you know as for the straight fork. as for now, im using the stock tange infinity fork and it is holding up well.

its hard to say this subjectively, since the buena vista and rush are very different frames, so thats quality wise.

frame headtube + headset stack height, is , for threaded , close to minimum fork steerer, add a few spacers for anything longer.

I have a bell on a spacer, and a center pull brake hanger,
in between the parts of the upper portion of a threaded headset.
