Trashed Front Derailer
I mangled my front derailer somehow on my 2002 Marin Bobcat Trail. It has 3 chainrings on the front and 8 sprockets in the rear.
The front derailer is a shimano Acera. It is my understanding this is a crappy derailer and I see them for cheap online. My seat tube is 31.9mm. What is a good derailer for me to get? I beat my bike up pretty good doing fire roads, single track, some ramps and obstacles etc, I want something decent but don't wanna break the bank. Will any derailer fit as long as it is made for 8/9 speed and 31.9mm? |
The most important thing is the triple chain ring and the clamp size, any new Shimano will work equally as well in my opinion, cheap or expensive...weight seems to be the biggest difference.

I picked up a Shimano Deore that should work, new for 9$ on ebay.
The bike is old, not trying to break the bank on it. |
