Lefty installation.
 

I've been offered a reasonable deal on a onepointfive Lefty strut. Lefty is Cannondale, my frame is a Cannondale Gemini, so all things considered, I'd imagine a Lefty should just drop into my head tube with no additional machining necessary?

Why would you want to convert to a lefty? The uneven support for the wheel is bound to cause 'wobble' under compression/rebound. I think this is a gimmick that you should avoid.

The Lefty is actually amazing. If one could ride with blindfolds, one cannot tell that it is not a fork. I own a C'dale with a Lefty-Ti. Although I only use it on weekends (and I have had it for over a year), I haven't had any problems with it.

The head tube on your bike must accept the 1 1/2" steerer tube.

Raiyn, thanks for the heads-up on the hub issue - I never knew about that so I'll explore further.

DieselDan, the Cannondale Gemini headtube is onepointfive. I'm using a RockShox factory fitted set up so they had to use special reducers to get a oneandoneeighth steerer tube to fit.

I'm only exploring the Lefty. The prices have come down a lot now and they've increased the travel across the range. I still like it the idea though.

You'll be able to install it, no problem. As long as you've got the right headset and hub, and of course disk brakes. It's a little more tricky to install than a normal headshok, but anyone with a little bit of mechanical ability should be able to pull it off.

As far as the front wheel goes, woodman makes a couple lefty hubs, they run about 105$ and 175$, so you can always get your wheel built onto one of those if your rim is in good shape.

Lefty's are amazing, I've been riding one for 3 years now and have never experienced any of the problems all the nay-sayers speak of, and have never met face to face with one either. Go for it! You won't regret it one bit.

I have a lefty and wish i didn't. I hope i break it so I can get a real fork. It is a pain to work on or mount to a car rack. I'll probably just get rid of the bike. Standards are standards for a reason.
