Bike disc brakes are going through the same evolution as motorcycle and auto brakes. Eventually someone will come out with floating calipers, then fixed-calipers and floating discs will be the final step. Both are self-centering designs with no adjustment needed.

Here's what I do and it works great: With the wheel in place I loosen the bolts that hold the brake caliper to the fork mount, wiggle the caliper to loosen it up a little, then squeeze and release the brake lever 4 or 5 times to center the pads on the rotor, holding the brake lever squeezed the last time while I tighten down the bolts securily. Works every time for me.
This really worked well for me today thanks. I had a rubbing problem today with my shimonos (on my Kona Dr Dew) and tried this and it worked! saved me from taking it to my LBS.

Certainly not SRAM. Not Shimano either. You need to post that service link for a lot of us not to call BS on that.
