cleat positioning
Hi all,
I have crank brothers egg beater pedals and shimano mt41 shoes. I want to adjust the angle of my cleat, but it appears that the shoes just have 4 holes to put the screws in (2 closer to the front of the shoe, 2 closer to the middle), and the cleats themselves offer no angle adjustment. Is there something I'm missing, or is it not possible to adjust the angle of the crank brothers cleats? Thanks Daven |
Normally there would be two slots in the sole with a plate above it that has 2 sets of threaded holes. Once the cleats are loose, the plate can slide fore and aft. Side to side adjustment is done with the cleats themselves.

Yeah I have the 2 slots, but haven't tried moving the plate. However I want angular adjustment.
Thanks Daven |
The crank brothers cleats definitely can be adjusted. If it has been installed on the pedal for a while, you may need to knock the cleat forcefully, as the bottom of the cleat is textured and digs into the softer compound of the shoe, and needs a little help getting dislodged.
If you are now just installing the cleats, make sure you have the plate that goes between the bolts and the cleat, this will allow you to angle the cleat from side to side. If you are new to clipless pedals or Crank Bros pedals, they've got an instructional video: http://crankbrothers.com/support/video_cleat_setup.php |

Thanks for the advice, I have had the cleats on for quite a while (years!), so will take them off and give the shoe a bit of a knock to see if I can get the plate to move! Then I will try some angular adjustment.
Thanks Daven |
