Bird crap on wheels
So I recently acquired a set of black anodized wheels for a great price. The only problem was that they had been sitting under a birds nest and are covered in bird crap. I got the front wheel clean after lots if scrubbing but the rear wheel just won't come clean. I have tried using 409 cleaner but it doesn't do a whole lot. Any ideas on how to loosen the crap without taking off the anodization? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Bird crap can be pretty corrosive, enough that it's a major destroyer of bridges, so don't be shocked if there's some permanent discoloration. I'd say your best bet is to try various detergents and cleaners using one of those nylon pot scrubber widgets and some elbow grease.

I use Bleach White when all else fails. It's found in the automotive section for getting whitewalls white again.
It's pretty nasty stuff though. You're not supposed to get it on your hands or breathe it in. And you have to rinse it off right away, or it will start bleaching the paint right off, leaving a hazy finish. |
My guess is, you got a great deal on the wheels. And probably for a reason.

Thanks for the advice. I will have to try some of these approaches. The wheels were a great deal whether they come perfectly clean or not. It's not like the wheel is completely covered. Just a couple stubborn spots.

Since bird poo is ammonia based, I might try some vinegar and a non - scratch i.e. white scotch brite pad. Do it on a small area to see how it works.
