Any easy way to crack open a Speedplay 'Frog' pedal?

I removed the two major screws but the two halves look hermetically sealed.

My intention was to invert the metal rings which are worn on one side and hopefully get a little more life out the pedals.

I do believe that I've done this but it was year sago. I think that you just pry them open. From what I remember they are sealed with a loctite type of mixture. Google around a bit to confirm!

Yep, the edges are sealed with a silicone-type sealant so you have to pry them apart with a thin blade screwdriver or similar. The easiest access point is at the spindle hole on the inboard side of each pedal so insert the screwdriver there. Of course, you removed the two "body bolts" with a 2.5 mm allen key first right?

BTW, I believe the bolts that hold the metal cleat engagement rings are either staked or treated with a strong locking compound so you may not be able to remove them without damage. You might contact speedplay at their "800" number to ask about that.

There is a whole thread on the link below about servicing Speedplay pedals and other issues that are worth reading.

I am not familiar with the specific model but the instructions, in the last page, seem to be quite comprehensive:
