Inner tubes for $1.50?

A messenger told me that he gets boxes of inner tubes that come out to about $1.50 apiece. Does anyone know where to get inner tubes this cheap? He wasn't buying huge quantities, just a box of about a dozen or so.

I get 10-packs at pricepoint.com. I think it's about $2 apiece there, though.

Price point is $20 for 10 tubes but there is a $15 charge for shipping and "insurance".

Wow, it's that much if you just get tubes? My last order was stem, bars, tubes, pedals and shipping wasn't that much.

OK, just did a dry run.
$19.98 for 10 tubes
$5.75 ship.
$1.25 ins.

$26.98 total bill.

$2.70 apiece shipped to my door. Still ain't bad.

YMMV depending on location.

Well, Pricepoint had a free shipping sale about two weeks ago. I just got my order. Typically they have a free shipping sale once to twice a year.

Maybe he's being a bit disingenuous. I haven't seen tubes wholesale that cheap in several years. Must be averaging the price of all the tubes he's ever bought. haha

I get 63g road tubes for $0.99 a piece, but this is dealer pricing.

Nowhere to get tubes for a buck fifty, really. Your friend must have an "in."

https://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...alve+Tube.aspx

As cheap of tubes as I go with. I have been using JensonUSA's inexpensive tubes for many years and never an issue. Their shipping is also much more reasonable than pricepoint, and they carry a lot more products. Normally if I can't find it at Jenson, I go to a LBS. Been shopping with them online for 10 years in June

Jenson's rad. Not the best deal for tubes tho.

10 pack prices, shipped to me:

$26.98 Pricepoint
$30.85 Jenson

I discovered inner tubes at a local dollar store for $1.39 each. I picked up a dozen for 26" mtb wheels. Supposedly for 1.75-2.1" tires. Upon opening the package, they smelled horrible. The tube didn't have a smooth butyl finish, rough and not very stretchy. I tried it in 1.95" tires. Pumped them up to 60-65 psi. Both tubes went flat. Tried it again at 55 psi and they blew after a day. Keeping them at 40-50 psi stopped the self destruction. But my sons had trouble patching them after thorn flats. So they eventually gave up and tossed them and went with 'real' tubes. Consumed 9 in two weeks. 3 remain. So beware if you find tubes in green hang-card packaging.

I ordered 10 tubes from Pricepoint when they had their free shipping deal. The tubes were $19.98 plus $1.25 for insurance, so I paid $21.23 total or $2.12 per tube. When the shipment arrived there were 12 tubes in the box so I actually paid $1.77 per tube. Worked out well for me.
