Help needed for Dura Ace 7900 shifters
Received my Dura Ace 7900 shifters today.
The right hand lever (controlled the RD), appears to be faulty to me. When the brake lever is pulled back towards the direction of the handlebars (without shifting etc.), a "click" noise is heard when the lever is past about 90% maximum range of movement (as well as friction felt). This appears to be because the main lever support (which is part of the return spring mechanism) appears to be rubbing against the back of the body of the brake lever at this level of brake lever movement. The curved main lever support moves in an inboard direction on brake application, and in my case, catches the edge of the brake lever body (again on the inboard side). In fact, on further testing, the main lever support appears to be slightly loose, and if I press a finger to it while pushing outboard THEN apply the brake lever, no sound/friction is heard. Is this normal operation for the right hand lever? The left lever is rock solid and there is no noise... I can upload photos if it makes it easier. Help appreciated from any DA 7900 owners, as I must return it (overseas) within the next few days if I want a refund (apparently they do not covering shipping costs). Cheers |
