Question about building MTB wheel
I have a 26 TREK MTB 8000 hadtail. I'm interested in building a 32 spoke wheel. But the hubs I see online nowadays are mostly 'disc" brake types. I have Vbrakes and have no plans to go disc. Will this hub work? Is it possible to build around the disc hardware?
OR do I have to have a non disc specific hub? If so, any idea where to find one online. I've seen a few LX hubs but availbility is always zero on the sites that advertise them.:( I just want a freakin' plain simple 9 speed hub.:D http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?id=41982 |
AFAIK, you can build a conventional rim brake wheel around a disc-compatible hub with no problems.
Jenson has XT non-disc front hubs in stock if you want one: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...-Disc+Hub.aspx And, of course, you could always use a road front hub since the OLD is the same. I don't see any Shimano non-disc rear hubs on Jenson's web site but a disc compatible hub will work just fine. |

I suck at finding stuff online, I guess cause I didn't see that and I looked haha!:D I see it isn't in stock at the Corona store (I live near by) but the warehouse must stock if the stat says "in stock". Thanks again! For the info, my mind is at rest.:thumb: |
Nothing stopping you!
Nope! Absolutely no reason you can`t use a disk specific hub with a non-disk specific rim.
Particularly since you`re not looking at a low spoke count wheel anyway. |

Edit update. Just picked up a set of new wheels, Deore hubs laced to SunRhyno Lite rims for $140 no tax.:D |
