Are All 4 prong Freewheels Index compatible
 

Is it true that all 4 prong Suntour freewheels are index compatible? Freewheel in question is a Winner Pro WP-6500..........

Suntour Accushift freewheels or cassettes are for index. Sorry I don't know part numbers.

I doubt it .. Indexing being Shimano dominated, And Suntour is RIP as a parts maker now ..

You will find other companies like Sun Race making freewheels with the hyperglide like tooth profile ,

Sun Tour 6s and 7s freewheels have the same spacing as Shimano 6s and 7s cassettes so yes they're index compatible. SunTour introduced their index system, Accushift, during the freewheel era.

But the 6500 freewheels are narrow 6s (ultra-6) with the same separation as a 7s freewheel. They were made to put a 6s freewheel on a 5s 120mm hub without respacing. You want a 6000 freewheel for 6s spacing

the OP is talking about Suntour not that crappy shimano hyperglide stuff. there is plenty of Suntour parts around.

sometimes you remind me a of an old coworker. if the part was not on the shelf or porduced in the last 6 months it never existed to him and you should throw the bike you need it for away for all he could care.

to the best of my knowledge yes. all 4 prong 6spd FW are 6spd index and all 4 prong 7spd FW are 7spd index compatible

I do not see variegated spacing on the Suntour freewheels. there seems to be a difference on the Microdrive cassettes but the OP is not asking about them

Yeah you're right about that.

Still the answer is no, because only an accushift freewheel is spaced correctly for indexing. I had a 6 speed accushift drivetrain and remember going through this whole deal, I was lucky enough to find another accushift freewheel on ebay.

I think suntour only made a 6 speed index freewheel and that's it, all their other indexing was cassette. I think.

Suntour never made 7spd index freewheels? I have atleast 4 on bikes right here in my bikeroom, and I think another 3 FW in boxes.

Someone please tell me how a freewheel can be indexing or non indexing compatible.

I'd like to hear why too. Cogs are cogs.. their spaced the same in many configurations.

They are indexing compatible if the cog to cog spacing matches the spacing requirements of the shifting system.
