Is it possible to use this oil in Magura rim brakes?
Hey, this is my first post after reading quite a few existing ones. I've searched for an answer to this, but couldn't find anything.
So here's my question: Is it advisable to use "Halfords Universal DOT 4 brake and clutch fluid" in Magura HS-33 hydraulic rim brakes? I've heard of it being used in hydraulic disc brakes before (not sure which ones), but I seem to remember somewhere that Maguras use thier own type of special oil?
Any help would be great.
Cheers, Mat

There is always Maguras website, google on the name, where they say they use a mineral oil based
fluid with special ROYAL BLOOD additives, available at fine bike shops everywhere. Do not use DOT "N"
brake fluid. Some disk brakes do but mineral oil is a little less obnoxious stuff in bike use. Use what the manufacturer recommends or don't complain when the seals blow. Steve

Why would they blow? I guess the oil corrodes them?
Yeah, that would be enough, I was just wondering what else would happen.

I simply used Torco Racing Fork Fluid 5wt. in my 99 Louises last week. Actuallly its even lighter than 5wt, more like 2.5wt. No more pump up in the lever now.
