Replacing bike seat unknown bolts

Im trying to replace my bike seat and im not sure how to get the bolts/screws off heres a picture

Looks like a really large philips head screwdriver would work. Assume there is a nut on the other end.

There should be a large nut on the other side, and usually the bolt is keyed in the middle so it doesn't turn. Either way loosen the nut a few turns with wrench that fits or an adjustable adjusted for a good fit. If the bolt isn't keyed, you might have to hold it with a large Philips screwdriver but it's always easier to turn the nut rather than the bolt.
Loosening the nut relaxes the clamp and ti slides up off the pin with a bit of elbow grease. Often twisting as you lift helps. BTW, it's hard to remove the seat from this type of post off the bike, so put it back on and use the bike to hold the post as you remove the seat. |
