Shock Adjustment Help!

I just purchased a Gary Fisher (Kaitai) and have a question about front fork adjustment.

The Fork is a Suntour NEX 4610TK with preload adjustment and lockout. The preload ajustment knob is on the top of the right tube, and the lockout knob is on the top of the left tube. My question is, when adjusting the preload are you only adjusting the one side or is there a wat to adjust both sides? It just makes no sense to be able to only adjust one side and not the other, and the same goes for the lockout feature.

Thanks.......

I hate to shunt you off, and I'm sure someone will probably give you an answer.

But if you just purchased this bike new from a dealer, go back and make him give you the level of after sale service you're entitled to, including answering all your questions relation to user adjustments.

Would ask you dealer to go through the set up for this fork. Also, have you checked Suntour's site for manuals http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/ind...y=4610&x=0&y=0.

For controls only being on one side of the fork, this is normally the same for all forks, especally budget ones, Lockout is only ever on one side, you lock out one side of the fork, this will also also affect the other.

almost all forks are built this way. 1 side spring and other side for the damper. only the cheapest forks have 2 springs and no damper. the fork works just fine in this configuration

I'm not sure I'd describe it as "almost all". But one sided jobs in bicycle forks are very common. I know it upsets our symetrical sensibilities. And I'm certainly of a like mind. But apparently we are fretting about nothing as it's so commonly done on even the higher end forks.
