Need help naming a part
Hi guys I need help naming a part of my old bicycle. Its part of the V brake and its the thing that the spring tension centering screw screws into. This is the same part that the spring is attatched to. Ive looked everywhere to no avail. The reason I am asking is because the thread where the screw screws into has snapped so it is difficult to set up the brakes properly. Is it worth simply replacing this part or shall I just buy a new set of V brakes?

Look in the used parts bin at your LBS or try to find a donor bike.

It's named "Melvin".
Actually, I agree with Maurice: dig through the used parts bin at the bike shop. Depending on the brake, it's either unlikely or impossible to get spare parts for it. Depending on how much you value your time, it could be worthwhile to simply replace the whole brake.
