Broken spoke & noisy crank

I can home yesterday from a ride down to school. I noticed that the moment I walked in the door that I lost one spoke. Is this a bad thing, or can I get by with missing one spoke?

For the past month my crank has been very noisy when pedaling. I went into the bike shop about a week ago and they lubed up the chain. That fixed the noise for a little while and the noise is back. It sounds like a squeak and sometimes there is a popping sound every couple of revolutions. Should I get it internally checked?

Replace the spoke and make up your mind that the chain needs regular maintaince.

Replacing one spoke is possible? I thought I would have to replace the whole wheel. That makes me happy. About the noise, Are you saying that you think it is just the chain needing maintenance?

Your bike shop can replace your broken spoke. You need to lube your chain every three hundred kilometers (opinions vary) or after every rain ride, whichever comes first.
