Patches And Innertube Question......

I was just wondering how many times I can patch my inner tube until I retire it and buy a new tube? Also, I can't afford those Kevlar bullet tread tires and thinking about getting either tire liners or possible that Slime goo that goes in the inner tube. The bike mechanic at my LBS laughed at me & said that those options do not work. What do you guys think??

I'd say the only limit on patching is that eventually you'll get a puncture or tear in a location that won't effectively accept a patch (e.g., near valve stem, at the edge of an existing patch, etc).

There is no limit on patches. The goo will work on some
but not all things that infest your tires. It can make
patching difficult.

What size tire? Walmart has Bell with the Kevlar belts
in some sizes for $15. I have used them on a couple
bikes with good luck. The tiny wires still gets through
them though. BTW, the Bell tires are Innova's.

I would think about where I was riding and maybe
adjust my route.

I was riding on the back side of the mall and was
picking up staple ends from the furniture store.
They pulled all the staples out of the protective
covers and threw them in the boxes and then
dragged them across the parking lot and the
staples fell out the openings in the bottom
of the boxes.

I just don't ride there any more, no more
