Saddle keeps coming out of adjustment.

I've got a "Profile" brand seat post that keeps coming loose at the saddle connection. It used to do it once in a while but I recently put a Brooks B-17 saddle on there and it seems to loosen up ever couple hours of riding now. I don't know what the saddle type would have to do with it but that does seems to be the case.

The seat post is 12 or 14 years old. Maybe the teeth on the adjustment part are just worn and I should replace the post? If that's the most practical choice, what is a decent, reasonable light replacement that people have been happy with? It's a 27.2 if that makes any difference.

Thanks,
Bob

I dislike those seatposts, for the difficulty of fine-tuning the tilt, the way the whole saddle floats when you loosen to change the adjustment, and the slippage that sometimes occurs.

Go find a two-bolt 27.2 seatpost. Kalloy makes one that's pretty affordable ($30-40), or you can blow a C-note on a Thompson post.

I've never had a problem with a 1-bolt post loosening. If the clamp has notches and you're not tightening it down in a notch, it can ruin the teeth and never stay tight again. Are you sure you didn't just strip out the bolt? Unlikely though, since it's probably a 6mm allen bolt. Should be plenty strong for that.
