Shimmano 600 Brakes Adjusting Barrel question
So I picked up a used pair of Shimmano 600 brakes today (model BR-6208). The only problem I have with them is that one of the brakes is missing the adjusting barrel. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? I went by one of my LBS, but had no luck with them. If I can not find one, am I "s.o.l" with one of the brakes, or can I still use it without one? Thanks in advance.

As you can see from the one you've got, the adjusting barrel has a flat on one side. Campagnolo also makes some like that, so an LBS that's dealt with Campagnolo brakes over the years might have one that'll fit your brake. If you can't find one locally, I may be able to dredge one up.
In the bigger picture, I'd personally much rather have some Shimano 105 SLR brakes, if you need a single-pivot brake. The old 600s were sprung pretty stiff, too stiff for my preferences.

Just use the rear, maybe keep the other for spares, and get a proper front brake with two pivots.
And no, you can't use the brake without the barrel adjuster, the bare arm can't support the cable housing properly, if at all.

You may be able to fabricate a replacement by modifying the barrel adjuster from a scrap rear derailleur or downtube cable adjuster and one of the useless nuts that come with presta tubes. These are typically threaded M5x.8 and the nut will thread over the barrel adjuster. File one side of the adjuster flat so it slips into the brake arm's hole and use the nut to set the adjustment. Any LBS should have a few barrel adjusters salvaged from damaged parts.
