Chain for Old 10 Speed (2x5)

My dad has a 70s Raleigh 10 speed (2x5). Its nice, with 531 frame and Campy components. He has never changed the chain, but would like to do so now. I warned him that the cassette and chainrings may have worn in conjunction with the chain, so he may have problems with changing just the chain. That problem aside, my question is what chain would fit? I'm under the impression that any 3/32 chain would be alright. 6,7,8 speed chains would be 3/32, right? Any version/model I should look for, or features I should avoid?

Any chain labeled 6/7/8 speed should work fine. Just stay away from the 9/10/11 speed stuff. I'd get a SRAM chain since they come with the PowerLink for easy removal, since you're not supposed to break the new chains and push the pin back in like you could with the old ones.

Or find an old style chain that can be broken and reinstalled with the pins.

As you mentioned, you might need a new freewheel and possibly new chainrings.

I'm using a SRAM PC-870 chain with a Campy NR crank and a Shimano 7 speed HG freewheel. It works perfectly. If he wants to replace the freewheel, I'd recommend the HG freewheels because they shift well.
