Tough uphill?

Having problems with my gears! Just had my chain and cassette replaced. Now - cycling uphill - the chain seems to stick to the small chainwheel, meaning the chain gets jammed. Doesn't happen unless using the small chainwheel. The small chainwheel doesn't seem to be damaged, the chain is new, the cassette is new!

Does anyone know why? Was thinking that I may not be getting enough chain tension from the derailleur.....?

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

You have a classical case of chain suck. Your small chainring has been worn and has some little burrs on the teeth that catch your chain.

You might be able to fix it by removing the chainring and dressing the burrs with a grinder or wire wheel but the permanent fix is a new chainring. I like to use stainless steel granny rings on mountain bikes to minimize this problem.

Thanks for the advice. Will get a new chainring. Will ask for stainless steel as well.

Cheers
