tire fix
 

Hello, someone mentioned to me that adding 100% silicone to a ripped tire sidewall can seal the tear, and preserve the tire. They also said it also seals the tire when the threads are exposed. I'm curious to find out if anyone has tried this? All suggestions welcome, Thanks.

Give the tire to the person and let them fix it.

I'll not ride a tire that has had its side torn, except when using a boot to get me home, where I'll find a new tire. To answer your question about the silicone, no I have not tried it. IMO its not worth it.

Silicone isn't very strong. Your friend doesn't know what they're talking about.

I use 1/32" rubber pipe gasket amterial for a permanent boot.
